  World Asthma Day (2nd May 2023) Introduction World Asthma Day has become one of the world’s most important asthma awareness and education events. For the 2022 World Asthma Day, GINA has chosen ‘Closing Gaps in Asthma Care' as the theme. World Asthma Day is aimed at bridging the gaps in asthma care. While timely intervention can help address “preventable suffering”, as per the World Health Organization (WHO), nearly 15 to 20 million people in India suffer from asthma, which includes patients from every age group (as of 2021). जागतिक दमा दिन (२ मे २०२३)           “ दमा” ह्या रोगाविषयी माहिती देणे आणि जनजागृती करणे ह्या दृष्टीने “जागतिक दमा दिन” हा जागतिक स्तरावरील एक महत्वाचा उपक्रम आहे. Global Initiative for Asthma (GINA) ह्या संस्थेने वर्ष २०२३ मधील जागतिक दमा दिनासाठी “सर्वांसाठी दमा दक्षता” ( Asthma Care for ALL) हा विषय निवडला आहे. दमा उपचारातील त्रुटी दूर करणे हे जागतिक दमा दिनाचे उद्दिष्ट आहे. जागतिक आरोग्य संघटनेनुसार वर्ष २०२१ पर्यन्त जवळपास १५ ते २० दशलक्ष भारतीयांना दम्याचा त्रास होता आणि त्यामध्ये प्रत्येक वयोगटातील रुग्णांचा समावेश आहे. तथापि योग्य वेळी दक्षता आणि उपचार घेतल्यास हा रोग टाळता येऊ शकतो. दमा हा श्वसनमार्गाशी संबंधित एक तीव्र/ दीर्घकालीन विकार आहे , जो कोणत्याही वयोगटातील व्यक्तीला होऊ शकतो. ह्या विकारात श्वसनमार्ग अति प्रमाणात प्रतिक्रियाशील होऊ शकतो. दम्यामुळे , विशेषतः रात्री किंवा पहाटे , वारंवार घरघर येणे , गुदमरणे , छाती आवळणे आणि खोकला येणे असे दुष्परिणाम दिसून येतात. फुफ्फुसामधील श्वसनमार्गातील अडथळ्यांमुळे हे दुष्परिणाम दिसून येतात. तथापि हे अडथळे नैसर्गिकरीत्या अ
